We got crafty again while my niece Z was up for a visit, this time we made homemade bubble stuff. I figured, it's kinda nice out and a supply of bubbles to "torture" the cats with would keep her entertained long enough to clean a little house. She also was nice enough to share them with her brother when mom & dad came to get her.
I borrowed the recipe from my fav place, pinterest. The bubbles weren't quite as nice as the picture with the recipe but they were good enough for our purposes. Anyways...you'll need 6c water, 2c dawn dish soap, & 3/4c light corn syrup. Mix it all together and pour it into to-go containers with wands for little hands. You can find the original recipe and a picture of the bubbles on my blog board on pinterest.
The blanket fort is totally under-rated! I mean, what could be better than pulling a blanket over a couple of chairs and pretending whatever for hours on end. Well, while entertaining my niece Z this week, I pulled out that old fabulous stand by. Also, I made it somewhat better too. We hauled a blanket, some lawn chairs, and a sheet to the clothes line to make this awesome little place of wonder. Now, I do realize that it does not take much crafting prowess to make a blanket fort/tent but the fact that it kept her outside for hours made it worthy of the post. A few toys, some yummy snacks, and a shady place to pretend... what kid could ask for more? So, please don't let your little crafters dismiss this fun activity, it was the easiest one I pulled out all week.
